River
1 February, 2021
Author: Everett
You start to flow through me
Finding every stream of misery
I hold my breath climbing every wave
I float up high until I crash down waiting for the next crave
Vessels carry on through the years
Surviving everything but the tears
Holding steady and enduring every pour
Eyes searching for a place to soar
Every bend and every drip feed the flood
I'm drowning and I know the depths smell blood
The bottle is always there when arms extend
Just like the color blue let's the sky pretend
One last drink and ill break the dam again
Searching for high ground so I can let the cycle begin
Cracks lead the leaks within
I depart again knowing I let you in
