Many people say
There’s no such thing nowadays,—
And it’s something you only find in stories,
But when these two people
Set eyes on each other for the first time,
This was honest to God,
No kidding,
Sure enough
Once in a lifetime
Love at first sight.

Like all good love stories, though,
It didn’t last long.
Yeah, wasn’t too long
And it all went to shit.
And it’s still there.
Every once in a while
I go out there and step in it,
Get it all over my boots,
Mess them up something fierce!
Because that’s what you do with it,
You know?

That’s why you have it there.
That’s why you save it –
So you can mess up your mind,
And your boots,
Every once in a while.
It sorta keeps you humble,
And makes you wanna cry…
But big boys don’t cry…
Do they?
The hell they don’t.
