On Writing Christmas Cards...

It is at this time of year when memories come crashing through the walls of time, scattering thoughts like the bricks of that wall,- and try as you might to dodge them, they still hit you with the force and pain that you have put into them.

They hit, and they hurt, and both options are deserved. There is no relief for the happening - it is there, every year, and also whenever you think of it, which, at this time in life, is more often than wanted.

There are many that I would waste the cost of a postage stamp on, were they still around to receive it, but they are gone, now, perhaps to a better place, but who knows? I certainly do not.

I will honor them in memory, with my thoughts and my smiles at the memories, and wish that I could, once again, see them and speak with them, and tell them that I love them.... e'en though at one time or another I may not have.

Today, however, I love them. I have learned, with sadness, the value of their lives, the importance and value of their being in my world,
or I in theirs, and what I have lost in the times since then.
