No happily ever afters
No dream to come true
Only yesterdays of laughter
Only thoughts of you

Not every love story has a happy ending
Forevers are just another day
Ever afters are better left to fairy tales
Sometimes when love leaves you, your heart is left to frail

'Till death do us part' some times lasts longer
Dreams once held are now sad
Letting go and moving on is, much easier said than done
Too soon, what was, is gone

There's no closing of doors propped open
What if's and what could of beens unfulfilled.
Not allowing life to ever compare to what was
Never to let those feelings give pause

Married to the memory of near perfect love
Nothing will ever take it's place
So sure there is nothing better, tomorrows are locked away
Never again being accepting of, any passion play

So sorry for the loss. I have never lost a spouse but this poem is probably a good way to say it. Thank you for a good reality poem.

It's been a min. But good poem as always.

Hope this hasn't happened to you, but if so, sorry for your loss.

When they say things can get easier with time, it can.

Lost my dog last year and couldn't get out of the bed the day she left us.

It will be a year this May and although I've moved on with life since then, she is definitely not forgotten.

Thanks for your thoughts on this writing. This did not happen to me. It was my thoughts of my mom losing my father, many years ago. I was just thinking about it and well, ..you know... poet.. :)
