Manipulative Eyes
22 February, 2024
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
No longer do I look into the eyes of manipulate love
What once was, can never be again
You held my heart close, but turned it away
Lies and deceit were the love price paid
I never seek to find love again
Only complacent peace will fill me
A love lost is never a gain
But the memories of it, always end in the pain
I have become used to the 'what is' in life
And lost the belief in the dreams of what could be
Happiness is left for the few that conform
Obligatory, conformity of the norm
But alas, love is but a game of the heart
Not a reality, only portrayed in some fairy tale
A lie told to oneself of something everlasting
Rare indeed in a truth it's masking
The eyes lie, and they subjugate
What the heart wants to believe and see
So no longer do I look into your eyes
For I never again, want that pain reprized
