Daddy
19 January, 2002
Author: Kerry
my dad and i
we breathe the same air
we bleed the same red
we laugh, we walk, we share
my dad and i
selfish and selfless at the same time
and while he drinks a beer
i snort a big fat line
my father and i
from far away we seem to get along
we enjoy each other's jokes
and listen to a few of the same songs
bald with a beer belly
i know my dad
other than that my
knowledge of the man is quite sad
but that's ok
we're in the same boat
he doesn't know a damn thing about me
so he has no reason to gloat
i am my dad
in several different ways
i've locked the door to my feelings
and left them for a few zillion days
i am my dad
i am my father
i love you daddy
i am your daughter
but i've been bad
i never truly listened
and for that i must stay
in prospect street prison
