Hold onto who you have
they're not going to be here forever.
You won't know what missing is
until you're never again together.
You never know what you've got
until it's taken away.
Take all the time you have
and say all you need to say.
Don't count on another day
today may be the last.
You don't know what's to miss
until it's in the past.
Never hesitate to make them smile
it may be the last you see.
Make sure they know you
instead of who you want to be.
Let them feel your love
don't play guessing games.
Always say you're sorry
when it's yours to take the blame.
Don't ever feel ashamed
to tell about your fears.
Don't turn away
when your face shows your tears.
Don't be too afraid
if you love them let it show.
Don't assume at all
because they may have never known.
Out of all the mistakes I've made
these were the worst to say.
I never really knew what I had
until he was taken away.
