If Only I Had Known
5 December, 2003
Author: KitKatrina
Why didn’t I just go see you?
God should’ve given me a sign,
I didn’t know just what to do,
I was so completely blind,
It was all so very clear,
Nothing was too hard to see,
I was just too stupid,
I didn’t want the truth to be,
Now you’re gone for good,
And I have to live with guilt,
If only I had known,
What a fragile life God built,
When I got that call,
I knew what I would hear,
Tears began to fall,
When she said you weren’t here,
I cringed up on the couch,
With your blanket over my head,
I just sat there and cried,
I couldn’t believe you were dead,
I went into your bathroom,
Smelled your sweet cologne,
Thought of you and me,
And how I’d be alone,
I looked through the house,
All the memories we had made,
It was so hard knowing,
That these memories will soon fade,
I looked at pictures we had taken,
The glow in your bright brown eyes,
That loving smile of yours,
Those memories will never die,
The way you always laughed,
The way that you would joke,
The hard times we went through,
Like the times you had a stroke,
I can’t believe how amazing you are,
9 strokes and 7 heart attacks,
You’ve been through so much,
But you just kept coming back,
I’m glad now that I can see,
What God has done is right,
You need to rest in peace,
I don’t want you to fight,
Please go and do that for me,
Forever just Rest In Peace,
You know that I love you,
But you need to be released,
Letting go is hard to bear,
But you’ve made it easy for me,
I know that you’ve always cared,
So I need to set you free,
There is just one thing left to say,
I should’ve said it before you died,
This message you must know is,
I love you and goodbye.
