In The Long Run

It scares me not knowing what is to come,
I’m so afraid of falling I automatically run,
I’ve done this before and was paid back in the end,
This happened to my dad along with my friend,
I ran away from two problems in the past,
Only to find out that they both wouldn’t last,
They wouldn’t last because they got so bad,
For I lost my friends along with my dad,
The two most important people I knew,
Had vanished and I thought my world was through,
Instead of not using my pain at all,
I used it to help me get up and stand tall,
I used it for strength, courage, and hope,
Along with all that my pain helped me cope,
Losing loved ones and struggling to survive,
Made me appreciate the fact I’m alive,
That fact is strange, but oh so true,
Learning from my mistakes is what I do,
If not for mistakes we would never know,
What we were doing wrong and where to go,
Mistakes guide us to places unknown,
But as for the future I’ll never know,
So I’ll take my mistakes and use them for good,
Because life isn’t made to be understood,
A little push in the right direction is always in need,
For I know that’s a fact, a great fact indeed…
