What I Can Be

I know she hurt you
And you need a helping hand
I know that you have problems
And when you need me there I will stand.
I know life isn't easey
And even the little things are tuff
I know that I like you
But I am just not enough.
I'm not your perfect angel
Or your geourgeous gal
I'm not your 4.0 student
I'm just your normal pal.
I can't meet your expectations
I'm not your fantasie
I can't be anything like her
But I can be the best of me.
I can always be your friend
If nothing more
I can always be there for you
Because that is what a good friend is for

Totally understand this poem!
And yes, if you love or care for the person enough then you really do understand that maybe all they'll ever need/want from you is a friendship.

How old is this guy Leah?

If he's in his teens or twenties and at least reasonably attractive, he's looking for a trophy not a love interest. Being a poet, you're probably the marrying kind. Perhaps you don't say that. Maybe you tell people you're just looking for a good time. You may as well be made of glass though, because the guys who want to party, who want to play, who want to acquire the largest collection of trophies, can see right through you. You are the girl a man wants to have a commitment with, to build a future with. Players can't see any farther into the future than tomorrow. They make OK friends as long as you are useful in some way, such as helping with their studies. By the time these boneheads wake up, it's usually too late. By that time, the good ones like you are already taken, and he has to spend the rest of his life wishing he woke up sooner. By that time, you'll have the life that you want with a man that you love and a family that makes you feel complete. It will be then that you look at what you have and then at what you could have had and thank God for unanswered prayers.

Justus...

Dose this mean you like my poetry? Actually we are both in our teens. And things with him have gone all the more complicated. A lot of my friends like him but i am the only one who seems able to tell him and talk about it. We are Froshman in highschool and i am not looking for love anymore. I have found some issues when it comes to "highschool love". And i find most boys verry immature (hense the reason i call them boys). I am glad you think i am wife material im not so shure i am. Thanks so much for you great wisdome of this sort. That is hard to find.

Of course I liked your poem Leah.

I wouldn't have responded if I didn't. Keep up the good work.
