Lock On My Heart
25 September, 2003
Author: Lorraine Gibson
The lock on this broken , an deeply scared heart,
is guarded and tightly chained.
The key is old and rusty, I am not sure it will open.
It has been a long, long, time.
I can't get it open, I am afraid.
My heart is beating so fast I can barely breath,
Suddenly my tears start to fall like rain.
My hand is shaking I can't hold the key.
Gently he reaches out and takes my hand
an helps me pick up the key and slowly we
Unlock the lock, now I am free.
It will take me a while to get to all right.
His voice keeps saying it will be all right.
Now, I am ready to cross the line, and go on an
Adventure of a lifetime.
So, my heart is now open the cobwebs I must clean.
My steps will be small and I may stumble and fall,
but I am ready to begin.
What made me open this scared, broken heart that day?
Maybe it was his rough, but gentle push, or his
encouraging words.
I kept saying over, over I can't do this.
Softly his voice says, oh yes you can.
Now the lock is open but were do I begin.
What will I write! Don't worry my friend,
all you need is your heart and a pen,
just write what you feel and feel what you write.
Like a spark dancing in the night my mind started to soar, I was
writing things on paper I never thought of before.
Maybe I wrote this for him, instead of for me,
To thank him, for seeing what I could not see,
Hidden so deep inside of me, begging to be free.
What was it in his gentle touch that cool September day
that said go ahead unlock the lock and throw the key away.
I was so afraid my hand were shaking, my heart was
Beating fast, who would guard this heart of mine.
With my out stretched wings, he gently picks me up,
an softly whispers in my ear, don't be afraid my friend,
Everything will be okay, I wont' let you fall.
So come fly with me!!!!!!
