Rainbows
21 October, 2001
Author: Lucinda Lee Tinsley
Sometimes I will look past the rain, that is pouring from the sky
And search out that rainbow, it is never plain
Rainbows are beautiful, vivid and bright
And sometimes I wish I could just take a ride
Jump on that rainbow, take a ride, to a far away place, yes a place for me to hide
Take a break, from all the tragedies of this life,
Go to a place where there is no more war, where no one has to die
I asked myself, what are we fighting for, and I pray for my father above to find that miracle door
That one you can open, it lives in our hearts, the door you walk through that seems to be keeping us all apart
Their are rainbows that always appear, whenever the roar of the rain is growing near,
It is the promise that the rain will soon end,
I wish with all my heart, like the rain, this war too would end.
I pray for a rainbow to jet across the sky, and give a promise that no one else has to die,
But, reality is , for what I can see
The only miracles today, are deep inside me
I have the gift of life, I am a mother of 4 ,and a wife
I have lost one son to the war of a drunk driver, who chose to get behind a wheel,
Now another son, off to war, fear is what I now feel
But I pray each and every night, for God to put a special rainbow in my sons sight
Let him know there is that promise still,
That someday he will come home
He will.
So my dearest son, just in case
You can not feel the sunshine on your face
I am now looking at this beautiful rainbow, red yellow and blue,
And I am sending this special rainbow to you.

Out of all your poems, you have wonderful imaginative, expressive, and outstanding fantasies. And your wording is beyond my explanations. Keep it up Mrs. Tinsley. |
