A Tree’s Life
14 October, 2003
Author: Mark Spencer
Here I stand, in the aftermath of my birth,
I will slowly rise up upon the Earth.
My branches reach out and touch her splendor,
And bear her fruit, succulent and tender.
Many a traveler will find rest in my shade,
And marvel at beauty, divinely made.
I bear the scars of true love, carved into in my bark.
I’ve watched as my forest turned into a park.
I have been a witness to the passing of time,
To dark ugly deeds and beauty sublime.
Here I stand, as I witness a sapling birth,
Then slowly I return, back to the Earth.
