Offended
8 July, 2003
Author: Mark Spencer
I've listened to your thoughts
And your religious views.
I heard everything you said,
As you presented your clues.
And though I disagreed,
With what you had to say.
I respect you right to say it,
And I'd not take that away.
But then when it was my turn,
And I shared my faith in God.
You acted so offended,
And I find that very odd.
For I listened quietly,
And I never made a fuss.
But you didn't let me finish,
The matter you'd not discuss.
"You Bible thumping Christians"
You yelled, shaking your fist.
"Just think you know it all!"
So my views you just dismissed.
That was fifteen years ago,
You've not spoken to me since.
It was my belief in Jesus
With which you found offence.
And so I've lost my sister,
I am dead in your mind.
Because you are offended,
To Hell I am assigned.
I'll never understand it,
The answers I can't perceive,
To shut even your brother out,
Simply for what I believe.
Isn't that why you disowned me.
You claim that's what Christians do.
They condemn non believers
That's what I heard from you.
And if I stopped believing,
Would this wound then be mended?
If I left Jesus behind,
Would you cease to be offended?
Well if I have to make a choice,
Lest you continue to condemn,
Between your love or Jesus,
I'm sorry, but I choose Him.
He makes no conditions,
On the love that He's extended.
And even though I still love you,
He will not be offended.

MartinV (63.208.63.142) -- Saturday, July 12 2003, 07:49 pm Mark, Perhapse in time, a usually, effective panacea, will bring this sister around. I winder if, ever in anger, distress are sudden dagner if, she uttered such words as Jesus Christ or, My God. If so, and I'm sure she has, I woder why she uttered thos words ove so many others that are available to the no-believer? Again, Rev. Mark, you continue to service and display your faith for all to see. MartinV |
Tarna (63.65.186.124) -- Tuesday, July 15 2003, 09:06 am It's amazing how selfish people can be. It is such a shame when one would rather judge than find understanding to agree to disagree. Perhaps she just didn't want to hear the "truth" No matter to the source. Striking out was her way to silence what she refused to hear. -Tarna |
