A Battle Begins
11 April, 2003

Joshua reassured us,
Said God would see us through.
He predicted victory,
Though many doubt it’s true.

This city is a fortress,
Our foes cannot be reached.
The walls are strong and fortified,
A defense that can’t be breached.

They’ll pick us off one by one,
Their archers strong and skilled.
And if our army comes too close,
Then many will be killed.

Is he stricken now with madness,
Will we pay for his sins?
Are we sheep for the slaughter,
When a battle begins?

Perhaps he should be overthrown,
Before we are destroyed.
Maybe this is a conflict,
We should all try to avoid.

Ever since he’s taken over,
All we ever do is fight.
A battle begins at daybreak,
And rages into the night.

And yes, we’ve won every battle,
But this time I just don’t know,
If Joshua will find victory,
At the walls of Jericho.

We’ll be fodder for their archers,
And targets for their scorn.
As we march around their city,
Blowing on these childish horns!

Joshua tells us to have faith,
On God we must depend.
But as the sun begins to rise,
A battle now begins.

We march toward the city,
Our horns ready to blow.
As Joshua leads us into,
The battle of Jericho.

Great perspective!

Awesome. I was right there with him!

Thank you.

I wanted to take a different look at the battle of Jericho, through the eyes of a soldier of little faith.
