The British Are Coming
30 March, 2003
Author: Mark Spencer
If you wonder about friendship,
How to notice when its there.
Just look towards the middle east,
Then perhaps you'll be aware.
Of the troops fighting beside you,
Whose blood now flows with yours.
As it has many times before,
Looking back on other wars.
They stand by your side in battle,
And put their lives on the line.
When no one else believes in you,
To your fate they are resigned.
A faithful friend in times of need,
When you're backed against the wall.
And your burden becomes too great,
All you need to do is call.
If you're surrounded, just listen,
For a sound like distant drumming.
The rhythmic echo of marching feet,
That says the British are coming.

Martin Vann (65.56.170.98) -- Wednesday, April 2 2003, 03:55 pm Mark, Very good, wish I had written this one, it speaks to our patriotic hearts and 3 cheers for Mr. Tony Blair. Considering we won our colonial freedom from the British, its amazing that we have continued to take care of each other through the years. Another thing I like about the British is, they have some terrific poets and I take my CAP off to them. MartinV |

Wayfarer (198.81.26.138) -- Sunday, June 1 2003, 10:36 pm Hell of a people, the Britt's. I was privileged to fight beside them. Those Irish, tough as nails, that bunch. The Scott's and the English, all of them! Courageous lot, they were. |
