Captain America
23 March, 2003
Author: Mark Spencer
I am just a man,
Though you ask so much more.
I do what I can,
Its what I'm fighting for.
I answer the call,
When no one else can hear.
Ever standing tall,
When injustice does appear.
I’m not Superman,
I don't have his strength or speed.
I’m a mortal man,
If you cut me I will bleed.
When all hope is gone,
And I face my final stand,
Still I will fight on,
'Till this shield falls from my hand.
I am a symbol,
To the ones who still believe,
In what I resemble,
And what freedom can achieve.
A soldier am I,
And I hold the wolf at bay.
On me you can rely,
To keep him from his prey.
So rest now, assured,
That your future's safe with me.
Despite what you've endured,
In this land where we are free.
I am just a man,
Though you see so much more.
I do what I can,
That's what I'm fighting for.
