Billy
16 February, 2003
Author: Mark Spencer
Billy is my brother,
Of that I’m proud to say.
Though we had different mothers,
He is kin to me today.
There is nothing I could ask,
That he would not do for me.
When life deals too great a task;
I just call, and there he’ll be.
He knows I would do the same,
For that’s what brothers do.
He has but to call my name,
And I’ll always come through.
Yes Billy is my brother,
Though I’m white and he is black.
I trust him like no other,
For I know he’s got my back.
Our last name is not the same.
We once sailed on different winds.
To this harbor, alone we came.
And sailed away as friends.
