Poetry
15 March, 2003
Author: Mark Spencer
A poem is a tear
Cried by the soul.
It can leave you empty
Or make you feel whole.
Served to the reader
That they may enjoy,
The poet’s tears of sorrow
And his tears of joy.
A drop of his soul is
Spilled upon the page.
He shares love and wisdom,
Emptiness and rage.
But make no mistake,
Without it he would die.
If there were no pages
For the tears that he cries.
This is how he copes
With the storm in his soul.
How he bravely forges on,
With a courage I extol.
When the storm subsides,
He sifts through the debris.
Where he finds another tear,
To create his poetry.
