Just A Ghost
10 February, 2004
Author: ShyHeart
I'm just a ghost, looking for a place, to rest my weary soul
The mind haunts me, like a stranger, that I do not know
For it takes me, where I do not want to go
I heard them scream, fall to their knees, but, no not me
I was blessed with this life-long curse, called a memory
Knew their names and what they liked to drink
But they were just kids, the same as me, all they really
Wanted, was a Chevrolet corvette, to show off to their friends
To bad, they never made it home, girl friends found other ways
To help them forget, that boy that was coming home, but
He hasn't made it yet, leaving me, just a ghost
Empty, full of their memories, and I carry on, but barely, on
I am a ghost, that carries caskets of my friends
I drop them off at their favorite drive-in and
They order up a super-cheese-burger and French fries
I'm nothing more than a casket carrier, for all those who died
I don't remember, more than I want to, then late at night
Memories come at me and cut me like a knife
There is no way to play that jute-box
And hear the favorite songs, of friends, who passed me by
But, I have no choice, even though I know
Their best girl, has said to them good-bye
I still try and find, a jute box that will still take a dime
I'm just a ghost, carrying coffins filled, with friends of mine.
I'm Just A ghost
