Do Poets Die?
2 September, 2003
Author: ShyHeart
The grip upon my poet’s pen
Once so strong, that I could write
The words…, to warm the coldest heart
Now, feeling weak, still, my heart, is my guide
I never clothed my words in mystery
They were what I felt and believed
My heart spoke to you, with my soul
Then the soul, spoke to my poet’s pen
My words, clothed with life’s experience
Were shared in poems, with hearts and souls
Who shared my experience, with their own, poet’s pen
You write today, as I once did, your words, do not pretend
I thank you for this legacy, that came, so, very long, before me
Your poet’s heart, speaking to your soul
Then once like me, to your poet’s pen
I am not a memory, but words, that you, keep setting free
I have wondered what would happen
When I grew weak, would my poems, fade, like me…,?
Now, I know, as I write this poem
With all my Heart & Soul, with your pen, Poet’s never die
I will live forever, l am sunshine’s fingers,
giving light through a thunder cloud
Ii will be a child’s laughter, piercing through the crowd
I’ll be that lonely heart, who sees love, walking like a shadow
I’ll be the memory of every heart that
Every wrote a poem, I am the truth, not a lie
You only write what you see and believe
No, poets, never die

Enchantress (204.32.65.152) -- Friday, September 5 2003, 11:55 pm WOOOHOOO! Martin! You got a really awesome piece here, it's like you were speaking for all poets everywhere. And not only for those who are on earth today, but the ones who are beneath the ground and have had poetry spoken throughout the world. Oh, this poem is so great Martin. Thank you, because you also described all of us as well as YOURSELF! Don't stop writing Martin! I love your poetry, it's getting more and more beautiful by the sentence! :) |
Martin Vann (171.75.209.73) -- Saturday, September 6 2003, 05:08 pm Terrie & Enchantress, Sometime, we write without knowing where we are going as if, it is not our own thoughts, that exit the pen. This work was one of those, it "just happened," I thank you for your expressions and I also want to thank, those who provided the words to my pen. I'm grateful to you all. MartinV |
