Just Out Side Of Town

When she smiled at me, I started thinking
Maybe its best, If, I, just, keep on drinking…,
Here by myself, and leave well enough, alone..,
If, I smile back, it won’t be long
She, will know, just what I’m dreaming
I can tell, by her diamond rings,
She doesn’t think, money, is everything
And she doesn’t know, she doesn’t know,
where, he is at.., but, she won’t find, what she’s looking for
Outside of town, in this cowboy bar, so, lady, let it go…,
I guess, that must be, her Mercedes
Couldn’t help but notice, when I parked along side
Yes, I was careful, when I opened up my door,
I put no scratch, on her car,
Nor will I…, on her heart
The band, had started coming in,
Setting up for the evening show
I knew it was time, and I, had to go
Got up from my table, and walked, close by her…,
She reached out her hand and said,
I came here, just, to see your show.
I had to get here early, I hear your really good
All my friends have heard of you and I wanted to be sure…,,
That I got a table, close to the stage, so,
My husband and all our friends
Could hear all your songs and would be, close to you.
That night, was my best show,
I sang my very, heart out…,
Just for her…, and I think, she knew…,
Funny what a man a-lone,
Can think, when he is drinking,
And singing In a cowboy bar,
just…, outside, of town.
