A Cowboy’s Demise
15 August, 2003
Author: ShyHeart
A cowboy, never, really dies
He just, finds…, another, range to ride
Where the water runs, so, pure and sweet
With lots of green grass, on, every cattle drive
The moon still shines, overhead and
When finally, the day is done
And the camp is made…, and cookie says…,
Supper’s ready, bacon & beans, that’s all, he needs
The stars in the sky, guide his fingers, as they slide
Along, his guitar, camp fire flames, shining, in his eyes
Reminding him, of your memory…,
Every one, he recalls…, in the song, that he sings
Down below, he left someone, he knows, Oh, who loved him so
And his promise, to never leave her, haunts him…, to his very soul
But, he hopes that she will understand…,
When the foreman, calls your name, You, have to go
She was his country girl, rode with him
Through all his misty dreams, always, by his side
As he sings to the memories of her, he hopes
She understands, when the foreman calls, your name…,
If, you are a cowboy, you have no choice, you have to go…
Sorry, I didn’t have the time, to say, good-bye
You will always be, in my heart
And every night, I’ll sing, my song of love…,
My song of love…, “of you.”
