The Last Song
5 August, 2003
Author: ShyHeart
I walked to center stage, every light in the house,
was shining down on me…,
I could feel the heat and hear the crowd
Surely, this…, must be a dream.
I sang in every bar, from Bakersfield to Tennessee
And now the lights, shine down on me,
Surely this…, must be a dream.
I picked up, my old guitar,
Which had taken me…, so very far…,
And I began to sing, the songs of love,
That everyone was asking for,
But took me…, so far, away from you…,
As I sang my songs, the crowd carried on and,
I remembered…, the promise that I had made to you
That if, I ever made it big, I would never…,
Never, Forget You.
Its been so long, since you walked with me,
And just before I got on the bus, I promised you,
If, I ever made it big, I would never,
Never forget you.
Tonight is something special, one last song to sing,
That you haven’t heard, but hope, that you will remember
This is the song I sang to her, as she cried her tears for me
When I said, I would never, never forget her.
Tonight I share my love for her with you, in this song
The song I sang, when I said, I would never forget her
I hope you feel my love, for all of you and for her
This will be my last concert, I’m going home…,
Going home to New Mexico, going home, back to her..,
God Bless, Good Night, Thank You All & Good Bye

It does have elements in it that relate in ways to my life. I will print it out and share it with my children and friends. It will have a special place in the Laney biography. Thank you again, from my heart! Best Regards, Ben PS. Keep writing, my friend!! |
Martin Vann (67.75.176.24) -- Monday, August 11 2003, 08:53 pm Ben, You never have to tell me about your heart, inside of us both, our hearts think alike. Please, never feel humble, when a friend shares his heart with you, as you have shared your heart with us. MartinV |
