Lerielle, A Mother's Poem

{A Mother’s Poem To Her Baby Daughter}
I sheltered your tiny, growing soul,
within my loving heart,
my body was your castle, yet,
I knew one day, that you would cry,
and say to me, this is my soul, I love you,
but you must let me go. I have a heart of my own,
mom, it must be free…, its time for me to go.
No longer would we share one heart,
for that day did finally come,
when you took your first breath with out my help,
giving birth onto yourself,
and delivering your soul onto its new castle,
the heart that once was mine, but now, belongs to you.
I never felt the pain, they say comes with giving birth,
just the thought of you, leaving me,
your sheltered castle, and walking upon this earth,
was all that I could think of, for soon I knew,
I would present the world, with its fairest of new queens,
Lerielle, my beautiful, beautiful, baby girl.
That day arrived and there you were
six pounds of beating heart,
six million pounds of love.
I took you, into my arms, now, outside my castle walls.
Yet, never fear, Lerielle, for all we shared within those castle’s walls,
we share again, now that you are here.
A new castle, of protection, still with the highest walls,
this castle made of love, will always be and protect you,
your new castle is here, within your mother’s, loving arms.
Six pounds of all I am, or ever hope to be,
now, rest within my arms, and I name you Lerielle.
You will become the sweetness, that purifies the well
that men will one day, drink from and refresh themselves,
but only, if you allow.
You will become the sun-light,
piercing through the blackest,
thunder cloud, and after God has satisfied his earth’s,
burning thirst, you will be the ray of sun shine,
that gives life, its new burst
and desire, in hopes that one day,
this new life, to will know, such loving arms.
All that I have described above,
would scare a mortal soul,
yet, not you, you have no fear,
no cause for alarm, you are safe
and there is time for you to live your life,
but for now, you are in the castle,
of your mother’s arms.
Even on the darkest day,
when, I’m but a memory,
I’ll be there with you,
and share my light and love.
Just as you and I shared that castle,
when you just, belonged to me.
There will never be a time so dark,
that I can not provide some light,
and you will see your mother’s heart,
like a shadow, standing by your side
And sharing, our castle’s light.
