The Wake-up Call
29 March, 2004
Author: ShyHeart
A cloud was forming over, all the sunshine that I knew
I could see the storm was coming, but I prayed it wasn’t true
So many times, in my life, I’ve heard the thunder roar…,
This was the first time, it came to my front door
Inside my little world, I always felt secure
No one ever got to me, unless, I let them in
Why do I love you, as no one else before
I hear the wind and rain, now pounding at my door
The only one I’ve ever loved, was taken by this storm
I looked at all, that remained, broken pieces of my life
Scattered upon the beaten earth, all I could do, was cry
Now, I know why, I loved you as know one else before
Suddenly, I heard a phone ring, though dazed, I could see
The telephone on the night-stand, in my hotel room
I picked it up and all I could say, was yes?
This is the lobby sir, this is your “Wake-Up Call.”
Then I said, that was some storm last night
The lobby replied, sorry sir, there was no storm last night
Then I realized, it had been a dream except for just one thing
I heard those words over and over, this is your “Wake-Up call”
I picked the phone up again, and called you at home
When I heard your sweet and loving voice, I almost fell apart
You said I sounded worried, was everything okay…?
I love you, the meeting went well, I’m coming home
