Crying Room

I couldn't see myself staying
the hallway was pitch black
beyond that was the crying room
in the glow i could see her back.
the air burned of incense
the sheets were stiff and crisp
i offered to hold her
i offered to her the dark
she accepted my conscience thinking
as she so often did before in the park.
the murkiness was getting solid
the layer of droplets on the window
were getting dense
she gave me a closeness of friendship
that was our only offense.
the moon was being held hostage
for the night did over run
our feelings for each other were spoken
we were both under each other's thumb.
we separated as we embraced and left our friendship intact
never to step over the barrier that divides
we knew each other mentally a kind of secret pact.
i left her something to remind
in the future when we depart
i'll think of us in spirit and mind
and it'll always be in my heart.
