Wings
4 March, 2004
Author: Mark Spencer
There once was a girl named Rosanna,
Who lived in Gary Indiana.
One night very late,
Rosanna met her fate,
When she fell from her fourth floor cabaña.
An angel came and held out her hand;
She reached down and helped Rosanna stand.
She said Jesus waits
At the Pearly Gates.
Rosanna said, I don’t understand.
I have heard many wonderful things,
All the rewards a righteous life brings.
The gifts I’d receive
If I’d just believe,
I had hoped that I had earned my wings.
The angel smiled and gave her a nod,
She said, I know you may find this odd,
If wings, you desire
To be in God’s choir,
I suggest you take that up with God.
Wings are not required for you to fly,
You need not earn them before you die.
Listen to the Word
And soar like a bird,
To those places far above the sky.
Listen to the song this Angel sings,
A message shared by the King of Kings.
With God you can glide
If you so decide,
For with faith, you will never need wings.
