I Simply Smile
29 January, 2004
Author: Nora
When someone asks me, “why the smile?”
This is my reply,
“I’m smiling because I have something money just can’t buy!”
And when they ask me to explain, the answer I rejoin
is that, what I have is priceless, and is worth much more than coin!
That a treasure trove of jewels simply pales next to it.
How the seven wonders of the world just can’t compare to this.
Should you multiply the riches of the treasures here on earth,
you’d still fall short of knowing what this thing is really worth.
What thing, they ask me, could it be, that’s made me smile so?
I simply tell them it’s a gift that only God bestows.
You can’t but it, you can’t win it, you can’t wish it into being.
That’s why the measure of it’s worth, out weighs everything!
It’s a gift that brings you comfort, when your suffering or hurt.
It’s a warm embrace, a smile, or perhaps a quiet word.
It’s a celebration in the moments life provides and rears.
The creator of the memories, of our laughter, love and tears.
It’s where love grows unconditionally, no matter what you do.
It’s the priceless gift of friendship
I’ve been blessed to share with you!
When someone asks me, “why the smile?”
That’s what I say to them.
That I simply smile, because I’m glad to have you as my friend!
