Thief
25 December, 2003
Author: Pamela O'Brien
Dangling on a string
Is the object of my affection
The one and only
Which was thieved not so long ago
The hand that holds
This thread of contempt
Is no longer the pursued
But has become the possessor
Of stolen property
Which fills a hollow cavity
I require it
To give willingly to someone
Who will treasure
Instead of exploit its vulnerability
Somebody
Who will not dangle it on a string
