Insignificant

Author: Pamela O'Brien
When I look at the world around me
Interacting
I feel…….
Insignificant
Though they see me
They see me through their eyes
Instead of the truth in mine
And as I touch the glass
Of the windows that separate us
My reflection
Evolves into a chance
To be on the other side
To be living another life
How strange we are as humans
To purposely individualize
And rely on each other at the same time
Do you wish for an escape
From choices
That you’ve made in haste
Decisions that have altered your existence
And gave birth to an unnecessary resistance;
A phobia of being yourself
When I look at the world around me
Congregating
I am…….
Captivated
For a person nearby
Is staring out at me
And feeling insignificant
