Untamed
19 December, 2002
Author: Pamela O'Brien
My heart is a wild beast in captivity
Contained behind bars which are the bones that hold me together
And with every breath of intoxicating air
I push the limits of its maximum capacity
Every pulse is a lunge at freedom
An attempt to escape this sheltered haven which is my body
And because it has rarely seen compassion
It snarls when an outsider comes too close
Until released from its cage
This heart will remain untamed
