The Longest Year
18 July, 2002
Author: Pamela O'Brien
It started with a smile,
As do most tragedies,
Desires met and dreams come true,
My heart was at ease.
It seemed to last forever,
As do most fairytales,
Comfort in my mind and soul,
But my heart began to fail.
It caused ruthless damage,
As do most tidal waves,
Fear oflosing the truth in my life,
My heart shied away.
It has been the longest year,
As are most eternity's,
Loss of love and new perspective,
Can set your heart free.
