When I Grow Up
13 June, 2002
Author: Pamela O'Brien
Remember when we were little girls,
And we used to dream,
Of being a princess, a ballerina,
Or a Fairy Queen?
Remember when we were little boys,
And we used to be so sure,
Of being G.I Joe, or an astraonaut,
Or some superstar at sports?
Can you think back to the times we had,
When a friend was someone who'd share their lunch?
Or the memories of "the first day back" and summers so full of fun?
Think of all the friends we've made throughout the past 12 years,
And picture all the laughs we've shared... the changes, and the tears.
And even though we're not all close and some have drifted apart,
We're all together to celebrate our official brand new start.
And so perhaps, ten years from now, when we have children of our own,
We can encourage them to be a ballerina,
or maybe a G.I Joe.
