Light

Author: Pilgrim
I saw a light....
Across all stations,
Blinking light a warning on a renegade brain.
Glowing like the eye of a tethered bird.
But I saw a light....
Deep, in the difficult distance....
Crafted by tools I did not understand,
As if lit by the ancients on a god-tossed coast.
I saw a light....
Why did I stare?
I was not a fool....
I was not naive....
Lights appeared and died everyday.
But why did I stare?
I had seen that light before.
In the glassy eyes of herded strangers,
In the fire of a man's acceptance of pain...
Why did I stare?
A light fading....
Like Tink in the cage....
Move on, I am a bystander.
Sad so sad that's life....
But a light fading.....
Fair enough.
A thousand stories in the naked city....
Sometimes you drop dead from the heat....
A light fading.....
No.
Randomly, I reached out.
Casually, I changed my life.
Thoughtlessly, I risked my love.
Unrepentantly, I followed a path destined for me.....
I saw a light.
