Another Fall

last autumn ..
.strolling along a moving sidewalk
cityscape moving slowly amidst
falling leaves dropping
crispy as my boots crunched them into ashes
golden grand large trees
with expressions on their bark
and impressions of previous decades
sped by me
carrying bags heavy with pumpkin pie
and a slight euphoria
i was content with the day.
the way things were going and coming,
and i relished every breath of fall air
laced with the scent of burning logs
fire was in my eyes
burning wild flames of fantasy
routine excited my ritual filled days
and nites were filled with asterioids
streaming through patchy clouded skies
i rode in your car ..secure..cocooned
strapped into my nest
as people stroll by into the painted scenes
i was driven past the trees
still waving gnarled branches
gold fluttering leaves turning
and the homeless man
still watched the pigeons

now this autumn falls on me
in a place where up and down have no meaning
where perception is as faded as our love
and where my crazy passion takes me to
squeezing paint out of tubes of acrylic
rich as the turning leaves and
waiting for the
neighbour boy
to once more
open his door........
