You May Exit My Adventure

I sleep better when you are miles away.
My deepest dreams are velvet blue.
I plan to paint my walls Belgian chocolate
with cream puff trimming.
I have some sunflowers and a watercolour
of a little mermaid with her mahogany hair
rising and twisting a greeting to the tall ship.
My plants are purring with the new black soil
that embraces their stem and root.
I have naps of content when you are this far.
