Dance Me To The Edge

I welcome you to my sanctuary,
to my haven, yet,
I dare you to enter
my penitentiary, my highway to hell.
Here, my sweet dreams intersect
with jolting nightmares.
In my home for this moment in space time,
my gaze, as usual, is transfixed outdoors
where the crackling branches
of the four floor high city tree
hit the glass, almost breaking it,
shattering my thought.
Swarms of black birds
fly in flowing swoops, together,
then suddenly, they break apart.
They rise up and through
the metallic tinged sky shore.
The falling sun and ghostlight of dusk
play games and cast an emerald glow
on the glass and mirror buildings downtown.
This sends a shiver to me and through the walls.
The deep red candles drip warm wax rich like lava.
The flames waver and intensify
with the thoughts of departed souls.
A single slender stick of incense
sends swirls of soft smoke
to you...to your space,
vibrant with colours, of sunset
and tapestrys of design.
Your eyes wide open,
you catch my image a day later.
Where do I start to recapture
the fire of free wildness.
You try to empathetically understand
my past sorrowful joys.
You know,
There are moments.
I feel your touch.
I hear the sound of your caress.
I see your voice travel.
Hold me and then,
Dance me to the edge of a never ending river.
Dance me to the outer limits where nothing matters.
