A Thousand Miles Away
31 August, 2000
Author: Pondering Red
Streams of glittering colour
slide from the violins
weeping a bittersweet melody
that announces autumn's grand entrance
and perhaps your departure.
The late summer rains
send messages with every fresh shower delight
of forthcoming surprising seasonal changes
and the softness in the air
whispers of your impending move.
As September sunshine plays
with the teasing shadows
of approaching fall,
I reel with exuberant expectations.
Yet, I foresee that
the cranberry and butter yellow leaves
will spiral down only on me
as the strong wind of destiny
sends these images of colours
to you, a thousand miles away.
