The Mirror
16 December, 2001
Author: Rowena Hulme
She stared into the mirror,
The lines were coming fast,
Each one told a story
of her sad and lonely past.
Told of times of being wanted,
Told of times of grief and pain,
Of times when she had promised,
it would never happen again.
Of times when beatings hurt her
and pain gave way to joy,
The day that she gave birth to
her third healthy baby boy!
Her family finally finished ,
with baby number five,
she stared into the mirror,
just glad to have survived.
It wasn't always easy,
she went through Hell and back,
But now she felt that somewhat,
her life was back on track.
She felt fiercely independent
with stubborness of mind,
She knew just what she wanted,
where to go and what to find!
She thought her life had lost it's freedom,
enslaved her in herself
and although she kept going,
she trusted no-one else.
She built a wall around her,
A wall so big and strong,
and she really believed deep down,
This was where she belonged.
Behind her wall was safety,
Behind her wall was calm..
Behind her wall, no man,
could cause her any harm.
The wall will always be there,
It always just "will be"
But the woman , behind it ,
Is no-one else,.....
Just ME.....!

Martin Vann (63.185.64.203) -- Thursday, July 15 2004, 07:05 pm Rowena, There will come a time, for your heart, no, there will be no pain, like, a memory, you look upon, your children, God, how they must warm, a beaten heart. A heart that gave more and more, until one day in the mirror, she sees, the LOVE of her own heart. Rowena, you have mor love, than most of us do. Beautiful, this womans, heart, shared with us.
