He was my cousin
Now he's a soldier
He's 21 years
That's not much older
Than me or my brother
Yet he had no fear
For this assignment
that he didn't volunteer
Not in life or death
Will he be scared
I just hope that
He's prepared
For when he's sent away
Just who can weigh
The pressure of the threat
He'll face each day
There's a gun in his hand
And bullets flying
The ones marked for death
Would rather die trying
Than give up now
Or accept defeat
Tyrants do not care
If their people eat
Now soldiers by his side
Are slowly dying
While jets overhead
Are constantly flying
And dropping their bombs
To kill the violent
After a few days
The battle ground's silent
