Today's Youth
25 March, 2002
Author: Seizure
It's a lot harder now, growing up today
Than any time before, regardless what they say
So much is going on, right before our eyes
But we pass right by, and tell ourselves some lies
We blind ourselves from truth, the pain we like to flower
To hide from situations, from which we have no power
Kids in abusive families, have it so damn hard
People do not ask, why their bodies' scarred
We never seem to tell them, that it's not their fault
That mom and dad are sick, and they can make it halt
They think it's their fault, they did something wrong
We never take notice, until the funeral song
Or if she's on the street, selling herself to live
We could all prevent it, it's not that hard to give
She's usually too young, and in constant pain
She keeps it to herself, for fear she might be slain
The streets are not a place, for kids to spend their days
Why can't they have fun, and act in the school plays?
If there's a class bully, we try to fix his ways
By sending to boot camp, or giving prison days
It could be he's alone, and thinks it makes him cool
But we'll never know, we threw him out of school
We think we are helping, but we make it worse
Another lifless body, now rides in a hearse
There's kids that sell drugs, to survive on the street
They're always cast down, by anyone they meet
They might steal cars, we all know it's true
But little do we know, it's all they can do
To live another day, to strive for something better
They can't even buy, a much needed sweater
So whether or not you care, there's children here dying
You b*tch about cold dinner, kids outside are crying
Your life is so hard, your tore your prom gown
When across the street, a world's upside down
So when "your world's over," don't hide from the truth
It does not compare, to the life of today's youth

You have so many feelings that you express in so many different beautiful words. The intensity of your poems is, forgive me for saying, but in a way orgasmic. I absolutely love them. |
