Innocence

Author: Seizure
She was so afraid, as she watched the door
She swore she heard his footsteps, coming up once more
Shaking and confused, she tucked into a ball
Just then she heard it, footsteps down the hall
They were coming closer, she trembled more with fear
Then the door opened, and she shed a tear
He took his filthy hand, and ran it down her face
She wished she wasn't there, and at a better place
He spoke to her softly, and said just what he needed
She just backed away, as she cried and pleaded
He didn't really care, he pulled her to his side
Then he had to tell her, she had no place to hide
She tried to get away, and she took a swing
Then she scratched his face, with her mother's ring
He told her that was it, with his ugly stare
Then he went to grab her, and drug her by her hair
He took her to his room, and threw her on the floor
Then he turned around, to go and lock the door
She backed to the corner, trying to get away
This is the kind of thing, she dreaded every day
He pulled her to his side, she was just too weak
To fend him off much longer, or to even speak
Now she lays abandoned, toward the break of dawn
Nothing's left to live for, her innocence is gone
