Devoid

As the wind increases, the candle's light will wane
I ponder my past but can think of only pain
Thinking harder now, I stare at the flame
Was I ever happy, or did I feel the same?

Devoid of friends, devoid of light
Devoid of anyone that thinks I'm right
Devoid of faith, devoid of care
Devoid of feelings that I can share

As the candle flickers, I think of a friend
I could tell him anything, but he died in the end
Thinking of another, she was someone I could trust
I told her everything, because she said I must
She didn't really care, about a thing I'd say
Then as I predicted, she just went away

Devoid of friends, devoid of light
Devoid of anyone that thinks I'm right
Devoid of faith, devoid of care
Devoid of feelings that I can share

Peering through the flame, the wick turns black
Weary from my feelings, I once again look back
I met three new friends that I thought would care
We were in the same class; to them I wasn't there
I even bought them things, to show them I was nice
They asked for more and could still sleep at nights

Devoid of friends, devoid of light
Devoid of anyone that thinks I'm right
Devoid of faith, devoid of care
Devoid of feelings that I can share

The flame finally dies out, so I look at the candle
I don't want to look back, it's too hard to handle
So I suppress my feelings, and keep them deep inside
Everyone that said they'd care, in the end just lied
