Invisable Mom
27 July, 2002
Author: Shan
When I was three and fell in the dirt,
or when I was five and needed you to button my shirt.
How about when I was seven and started in schools?
What about when I was 10 and broke all the rules?
Remember when I started junior high?
Or what about when I was 14 and all I did was cry?
Or when I asked you for advise about my friends?
And all you could tell me was that a friendship always ends?
When i entered high school? Do you remember that?
When i got my first car, and all I said was, "my car is so phat!"
Do you know that i quit school, started drugs and wore all black?
Did you know I reached out for you every minute that you slacked.
I only followed examples, of drugs, depression and such.
I only wanted one thing from you.. Just a bit of a mothers touch.
You were always too busy, or always too stoned.
You never had time for your daughter that you owned.
You tossed me aside as if I was never there.
My sisters, well I raised them, I also watched their little hearts tear
I'm writing this now, to say thank you.
Thank you to my mom, for all that she showed me about this life,
about the ignorant people, the pain and the strife.
Thank you so much, you have done a ton,
actually, it's more like, Thanks for all you HAVEN'T done!

Seizure (67.34.133.73) -- Saturday, July 20 2002, 10:27 pm Shan, that was to the point, touching, and I know what a lot of that feels like myself. I could relate. You are venting to your mom for what she hasn't done in a very healthy way, I have a great deal of respect for that. Hope to see more of your work in the future. |
