Fear Conquers All
7 August, 2003
Author: Stacy
betrayal. as you casually put on a mask of indifference
as you commit true sin: abandoning the heart -- yours, and mine to follow
with shallow chatter, hollow glances
though once our souls delved deep within one another
and their fossilized imprints hold rigid and true
I quake at the thought of how distant you now play
how, when I reach out to you, you let me feel only your cold exterior
you wish me a fool -- for I know your shape as it were my own
I know that I am still within you as you are in me
that you toil to deceive your emotions -- to ease imminent parting and pain
but once you told me that love was greater than fear.
