Almost Real
14 June, 2003
Author: Stacy
here I stand -- alone -- with only darkness to cradle me
I'm taunted by the sight of your lingering memory
and I reach out to touch you in yearning desperation
then crumble as you do -- you're just a fleeting apparition
but through the night my dreams still whisper your face
I can almost taste
your warmth
I can almost feel
your soul
like you're almost real
you're almost real
I wish I could sift through the sands of the hourglass
and capture those grains, those moments of the past
when naively we thought love could escape the hours
the glass be broken and eternity be ours
perhaps a sweet lie
is better than the bitter cry
of truth
