Waking Dreams
21 December, 2002
Author: Stacy
waking dreams,
this world we're in
for, where do dreams end
and reality begin?
and what if our lives were our dreams
and our dreams our lives
all of this fancy,
a deception of the eyes?
and why, when first I wake up,
is it the dream that seems so true
and the "reality" around me,
so fantastical and new?
and why, when submerged in night's dark,
is it my dreams that seem so bright,
and, when cloaked in day's light,
is it "reality" that seems so stark?
and so, when I fall asleep,
is it my body truly waking?
and is my mind, all the rest of time,
made for imagination's taking?
oh, dreaming awake,
this dream we're in
where do dreams begin,
and reality end?
The answer is in the lightness of the dark
and the darkness of the light
