Dark Renewal
5 December, 2001
Author: Stella
The last piece of emotion fades from her being
And the diminishing darkness of the heavens
Find its way to her core
Filling the once vibrant chamber
With the thing she now seeks most
The quiet stillness, the numbing cold
The stark brutal reality of a dream unfulfilled
Oh, the coolness of it
As it puts to rest the last flicker of warmth
Once she was attracted to that bright place
Full of color and light and life
The sunlight once radiated from her
So beautiful that it bought tears of joy to all who saw it
She thought there was promise there
But instead found the incessant passage of time
And the inevitable pain of hope denied
So now she lives in that dark cold world
Taken from the deepest part of night
In the shadow of the moon she frees it
Allowing it to envelope her
Finding solace in the knowledge that it is truly hers
Noone can ever take it away
It will never leave her
It makes her invisible, invincible
And with the coming of each new dawn
She calls the blackness back inside her
To its home, to its kingdom
Where it dims any light that may have crept in
Now her soul too is invisible, invincible
Protected from her enemy, called love by others
Known only as pain to her
She is safe now, her emotionless inner being guarded
Safe til the new night comes to the world
And her cycle of dark renewal begins again
