Apocalypse Now
23 September, 2002
Author: Sunil Mukundan
Now the war is won
The vanquished on their knees
The dead no longer knows
But the living on either side suffer
A hurt that never heals forever
A victory so fallen & deprived
That humanity has lost its faith
And all prophecies of the end seem true
Paving a bloody path of hatred and fear
From the rubbles of a imperious edifice
To the dark caves of a godforsaken desert
The wail of the innocent no longer heard
Amidst the war cry of the unsatiated fanatic
Who revel in another's woe and goes on
And this will remain as long as we fail
Believing in common humanity
And will go on cutting out
The very bough we roost upon.
